My God-given Story

I was born in Hong Kong, China. When I was 12, my family and I migrated to Australia where I completed my high school and undergraduate education. Subsequently, I had spent 20 years serving in consulting firms, banks and insurance firms across Australia, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

I was born again in 1988—the first time I was invited to a Baptist church where the Gospel of Jesus Christ was proclaimed. I remember being called to full time ministry during an OMF conference in 1991 but did not surrender to God’s calling until May 2013 right by the Sea of Galilee in Israel where a story in the Gospel of John (chapter 21) broke my heart.  Subsequently, God had opened the way for me to complete my theological and biblical studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and to serve Him at Dallas Chinese Bible Church in my current position.

In college I met my wife Cindy who was also born in Hong Kong and grew up in Australia.  She is gifted in hospitality, organizing outreach events, ministering to women and making handy crafts. We have been lovingly married since 1999 through which God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters.

I enjoy making music with the violin, playing tennis, board games with friends and family, fishing, reading books on Christian leadership and news articles from all around the world.

Ministry Philosophy

I believe all aspects of Christian ministry begin and end with Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again. Therefore ministry iscentered on Christ by the grace of God for His glory.  We—the church, united by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ are called to make disciples, worship God in spirit and truth and live out His grace by loving others sacrificially.

I believe God has given me a passion to study and teach His Word, to share the Gospel, to care for the hurting and the lost, to serve His church through the nurturing of fellow servants in Christ and to support the planting of Gospel-centered churches.  To me there is nothing more rewarding in life than seeing and experiencing the presence and power of God transforming lives!  To make Christ known and help fellow believers grow in spiritual maturity has become my life-long mission. I look forward to the day when “Jesus might present her to Himself a glorious church...holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27).
